Reclaiming photography

I’ve started a new blog in an attempt to move a lot of my photography from Flickr and my disk drives into one place. Photography has always been a reoccurring part to my life and I am merging them into one place now. You can find my new photography blog here at ‘Lens Karma’.

As part of this move I am going to try and start photo blogging a bit more – I love doing it but tend to never publish my images sticking them on my drives or hidden intermittently in Flickr. I’m slowly adding a selection of my photographs to Lens Karma over the next few weeks. In addition I’m bringing some of my hand developed images I scanned in a few years ago into the blog which is a fun thing to do as a lot of them have never been online.

My plan is to have a photo blog category along with over time add selected images. It should be fun and whilst I enjoy Flickr there is nothing like reclaiming your own content.

  1. Hey, I completely agree! Flickr is so useful for storing everything, but when you want to share your work you can’t beat a WordPress blog. And I know what you mean about reclaimation… though as long as we use Flickr it’s still all theirs…
Anyway – love your new site and that you have a graffiti tag ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Yeah, I’m going to have to ween myself slowly from Flickr but the process is starting ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a long history of hosting my images there but I am loving having a place of my own. I’m such a sucker for graffiti and typography/signs. I tend to go crazy photographing that stuff on my travels so expect more ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. To my way of thinking, photography is all about sharing: we make images to capture a moment, a feeling, an emotion as much as to capture an image, but they just remain images without sharing, without the chance for others to see, to appreciate, to live what we have lived – even secondhand!
